LIC Assistant Syllabus 2026

As of December 2025, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has not yet released the official notification for the 2026 Assistant recruitment.

However, the syllabus and exam pattern typically remain consistent. Below is the expected syllabus and exam pattern for the LIC Assistant 2026 exam, based on the previous recruitment cycle.

1. Selection Process

The recruitment generally consists of three stages:

1. Preliminary Exam (Online, Objective)
2. Main Exam (Online, Objective)
3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT) & Pre-recruitment Medical Examination.

2. LIC Assistant Prelims Syllabus & Pattern

The Preliminary exam is qualifying in nature. Marks obtained here are not counted for the final merit list.

• Note: The English/Hindi Language section is usually qualifying in nature. Marks from this section are not added to the total for ranking; you only need to clear the minimum cut-off.

Detailed Prelims Syllabus:

• Reasoning Ability: Puzzles (Seating Arrangement – Circular, Linear, Square), Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Inequality, Data Sufficiency, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Alphanumeric Series.
• Numerical Ability: Simplification & Approximation (High Weightage), Number Series (Missing/Wrong), Quadratic Equations, Data Interpretation (Bar, Line, Pie), Arithmetic (Profit & Loss, SI/CI, Age, Time & Work, Speed & Distance).
• English/Hindi Language: Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Error Spotting, Sentence Improvement, Fill in the Blanks, Para Jumbles.

3. LIC Assistant Mains Syllabus & Pattern

This is the most critical stage. The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the Mains Exam only.

Exam Pattern (Expected):

There are often two variations in the Mains pattern depending on the Zone (North/Central vs. South/East). However, the subjects remain the same.

Detailed Mains Syllabus:

A. General & Financial Awareness (Crucial Section)

• Financial/Insurance Awareness: History of LIC, Insurance Terms (Premium, Policy, Ombudsman, ULIP), Indian Financial System, RBI Policies, Budget & Economic Survey.
• Current Affairs: Last 6 months (National/International news, Sports, Awards, Summits).
• Static GK: National Parks, Currencies, Capitals, Important Days, Headquarters of Organizations.

B. Quantitative Aptitude

• Data Interpretation: High level (Caselets, Mixed Graphs, Missing DI).
• Arithmetic: Partnership, Mixture & Alligation, Pipes & Cisterns, Permutation & Combination, Probability, Mensuration (2D/3D), Time & Work, Speed Time Distance.
• Data Sufficiency: 2-statement questions.

C. Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude

• Reasoning: High-level Puzzles (Box based, Floor based, Month/Date based), Input-Output, Logical Reasoning (Statement-Assumption, Course of Action), Coding-Decoding (New Pattern).
• Computer Aptitude: Basics of Hardware/Software, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet & Networking, Keyboard Shortcuts, Computer Abbreviations, Operating Systems.

D. English Language

• Reading Comprehension (Economy/Insurance based themes), Match the Columns, Connectors, Error Spotting (New pattern), Cloze Test, Para Jumbles, Vocabulary (Synonyms/Antonyms).

E. Hindi Language

• Hindi Grammar (Vyakaran), Vilom Shabd (Antonyms), Paryayvachi Shabd (Synonyms), Gadyansh (Passage), Fill in the Blanks (Rikt Sthan), Sentence Correction (Vakya Shudhi).
