Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit (as of Jan 1, 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 37 Years

2. Educational Qualification

  • For Sanginis (Worker): Minimum 10+2 (12th Pass) and Maximum Graduation. (Candidates with higher qualifications than graduation are generally not considered).
  • For Sahayikas (Helper): Minimum Matriculation (10th Pass). In case no matriculate candidate is available in the ward, an 8th Pass candidate may be considered.

3. Residential Requirement

  • The candidate must be a Domicile of UT of J&K.
  • The candidate must be a resident of the specific Electoral Ward where the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) is located.
  • Proof: Name in the Voter List of that specific ward is mandatory.

Selection Criteria (Merit-Based)

  • Sanginis (Worker): Weightage is given to marks obtained in 10+2.
  • Sahayikas (Helper): Selection is based on marks obtained in Class 10th (Matric).
  • Family of Retired AWW: If an eligible candidate belongs to the family of a retiring Anganwadi Worker, she may get additional bonus points (usually 2%).
  • Tie-Breaker: In case of a tie in marks, the candidate with higher age is preferred.
