Detailed Syllabus 2026

Paper 1: Nursing Subjects (100 Marks)

The syllabus covers the core curriculum of GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) and B.Sc Nursing courses.

  • Anatomy & Physiology: Skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, digestive system, excretory system, reproductive system, and endocrine system.
  • Fundamentals of Nursing: Nursing procedures, vital signs, first aid, patient care, hygiene, and ethical/legal issues in nursing.
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing: Pathophysiology, clinical management of common medical and surgical conditions (cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological, etc.).
  • Community Health Nursing: Health care delivery systems, epidemiology, national health programs, immunization, and family welfare.
  • Midwifery & Gynecological Nursing (OBG): Antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care, labor management, newborn care, and gynecological disorders.
  • Pediatric Nursing (Child Health): Growth and development, common childhood diseases, and pediatric emergencies.
  • Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing: Mental disorders, therapeutic communication, and psychiatric treatments.
  • Nursing Management & Administration: Basics of ward management, leadership, and health economics.
  • Microbiology, Nutrition, & Biochemistry: Basics relevant to nursing practice.

Paper 2: General Aptitude (100 Marks)

1. General Hindi (20 Marks):

  • Grammar: Synonyms (Paryaywachi), Antonyms (Vilom), Sandhi (Joining), Samas.
  • Vocabulary: One-word substitution (Anek shabdon ke liye ek shabd), Idioms and Phrases (Muhavare aur Lokoktiyan).
  • Correction: Sentence correction, spelling correction (Vartani).
  • Tatsam & Tadbhav: Words derived from Sanskrit.

2. General Knowledge & General Studies (80 Marks):

  • Uttarakhand State GK (High Weightage):
    • History, Geography, and Culture of Uttarakhand.
    • Famous tourist places, temples, and fairs.
    • State symbols, economy, and political structure of Uttarakhand.
  • Current Affairs: National and International news (Sports, Awards, Appointments).
  • History & Geography: Indian History (Freedom movement), Indian Geography (Rivers, Mountains, Climate).
  • General Science: Basics of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Class 10 level).
  • Computer Proficiency: Basic computer concepts, MS Office, Internet usage.
  • Reasoning: Logical reasoning, coding-decoding, series, blood relations, and direction sense.

Preparation Strategy

  1. Focus on Uttarakhand GK: Since a significant portion of Paper 2 is dedicated to General Studies, having a strong command over Uttarakhand-specific GK is often the tie-breaker.
  2. Negative Marking: Be cautious with guesses. Losing 0.25 marks for every wrong answer can significantly drop your rank.
  3. Nursing Revision: Prioritize “Med-Surg” and “Community Health Nursing” as these topics typically carry high weightage in the technical section.
