Eligibility Criteria
To apply for OCES/DGFS 2026, candidates must fulfill the following criteria as of August 1, 2026:
1. Education Qualification
- For Engineers: B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engineering) / 5-year Integrated M.Tech with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
- For Science Graduates: M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences, etc., with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
- Note: Final year students awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

Selection Process
The selection process involves two stages: Screening and Selection Interview.
Stage 1: Screening
Candidates can be screened in for the interview through two separate channels:
- Online Screening Exam: Conducted by BARC in March 2026.
- GATE Score: Candidates with a valid GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026 Score in the relevant discipline.
- Tip: You can apply through both channels to maximize your chances.
Stage 2: Selection Interview
- Shortlisted candidates will appear for a Personal Interview.
- Final selection is based solely on performance in the interview, subject to medical fitness.
Salary & Stipend
- During Training: Trainee Scientific Officers (TSOs) receive a monthly stipend of ₹55,000 (approx) plus a one-time book allowance.
- After Absorption: Appointed as Scientific Officer (Level 10).
- Basic Pay: ₹56,100
- Allowances: DA, HRA, Transport Allowance, etc.
- Total Monthly Emoluments: Approx. ₹1,20,000 – ₹1,30,000 (depending on the city of posting).
