1. Scientific Officer / Technical Officer (TO) Syllabus

This exam is used to screen candidates for the interview. The final selection is often based solely on the interview (for Scientific Officers) or a mix of both (for some Direct Recruitment Technical Officer posts).

  • Mechanical: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Heat Transfer, Manufacturing, Engineering Mechanics.
  • Civil: Structural Analysis, RCC & Steel Structures, Soil Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Engg, Surveying, Highway Engg.
  • Electrical: Circuit Theory, EM Fields, Machines, Power Systems, Control Systems, Electrical Measurements, Power Electronics.

This post is generally equivalent to Scientific Assistant.

  • Selection Process: Computer Based Screening Test + Interview.
  • Exam Pattern: 40 MCQs | 120 Marks | 1 Hour duration.
  • Marking: +3 for Correct, -1 for Wrong.

Syllabus:

  • Diploma Engineering (Mech/Elect/Civil etc.): Questions will be based on the 3-year Diploma curriculum. Focus on basics and core technical concepts.
  • B.Sc (Physics/Chem): Questions will be based on the B.Sc curriculum.
  • Note: Unlike the Technician exam, this does NOT typically have a separate “General Awareness” section; it is technical/subject-specific.

3. Stipendiary Trainee Category-II (Cat-II) / Technician Syllabus

(For ITI, 10th & 12th Pass Candidates)

This recruitment has a Three-Stage selection process.

Stage 1: Preliminary Test (Qualifying Only)

  • Pattern: 50 Questions (150 Marks)
